Stop wasting your money on expensive products that don’t work. This shampoo and conditioner will seriously make your hair flawless.

I’m not kidding, and I can tell you I was skeptical.  As I always am about things that seem “too good to be true”.  I had seen ads for function of beauty for months and had checked out their website a few times. I always passed on the offer because in my head I went “Yeah right, it can’t be that good” and I’d move on.

To give you a little background, I’ve always struggled a bit with my hair. It’s normal thickness but oh my goodness do I have a lot of it.  My poor stylist probably cringes every time I come in for highlights. My hair is straightish and wavy, especially by my forehead. I get these weird wavy curls right by my face especially when it’s humid. And flyaways, geez, my hair almost always looks like I’ve gotten small electrical shocks. So you can imagine, when I see a shampoo and conditioner that claims it can do away with all of my hair problems, I’m not jumping to buy.

Over the years I’ve tried so many hair products, flat irons, hair dryers (Links to my top picks) on top of shampoo and conditioner and nothing worked so well that I had to share it.  (Except for It’s a 10, which is also amazing) That is, until I bit the bullet and finally tried function of beauty.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Take the hair quiz

I know, I know! This seems like a total drag and a waste of time, but it’s not.  They aren’t “recommending” anything through the quiz. You’re basically selecting what you want.  They need to know about your hair and your hair needs so that they can do their magical formulation to give you the most perfect shampoo (and conditioner) you’ve ever tried.

To get started, you’ll tell them all about your hair. And let’s be honest, we’re okay talking about ourselves.

Hair type is just that.  Where you feel your hair fits into their spectrum.  My hair is relatively straight, but if I let it air dry it’s wavy so I chose that.

Next up is …

Hair structure.. eek! For real, who knows? I like fall in the middle of this murkey fine/medium/course and I have literally no idea which to pick.  Because I have a lot of freakin’ hair.  I mean A LOT. Pretty sure the wonderful woman that puts up with doing my color quietly curses under her breath every time I walk in for an appointment. But I digress…

Next is …

And I never know what to put for this one.  Living in a climate where I’m lucky enough to experience every season, my scalp can be oily in the summer and totally dry in the winter, so I opted for normal.  If you’re not sure, normal is a safe choice.

Now let’s talk hair goals. Because we’ve all got them and their all different.

I just had a conversation with my 3-year-old the other day. She has naturally curly hair (not from me, that’s for sure) and it spirals into these adorably bouncy ringlets that a lot of women would kill for. Not her.  She wanted to know why her hair is curly and why it couldn’t be straight like mine.  I feel her.  Because we all want what we don’t have, at least some of the time.

Lucky for me, my hair does this weird wavy, frizzy, straight kind of thing so if I leave the house without doing something to it, you can tell. So I selected a few of my goals.

I picked: deep condition, volumize, color protectant (because if I didn’t color my hair I’d be half gray) anti-frizz and straighten.

Now, when I picked these, I didn’t think it would matter much.  Boy, was I wrong. I’ll get into that in a minute. Because we need to talk about fragrance.

Have you ever bought a shampoo or conditioner just based on how it smelled? I have. So I was a little worried when I ordered because I couldn’t give my selection a preorder sniff test.

They totally let you pick your fragrance and the strength and again, I chose the middle of the road medium to be on the safe side. I also chose their for (shore) scent.

But what do they all smell like you ask?  Their site gives some pretty spectacular descriptions.

So I snagged their “for (shore)” scent which is limited edition. (But still totally available) and I’m now seriously wishing I had chosen “strong” fragrance. It smells amazing, like I don’t want to get out of the shower amazing.

So does it live up to the hype? (and the price?)

A bottle of shampoo and conditioner came up to about $50.00, and in my opinion, function of beauty was worth every penny.

Here’s why…

  1. My hair tangles like nobody’s business and every time I use this shampoo and conditioner I’m literally tangle free.
  2. It looks like I took a flat iron to my hair when I didn’t.
  3. My color is more vibrant and lasts longer.
  4. My hair feels amazing – like just out of the salon amazing.
  5. The smell…. Oh my goodness, it’s delicious.

My husband thinks I’m batsh&% crazy and that I’m just making it up, but this is seriously the best product I’ve ever found for my hair.  Seriously, try function of beauty for yourself.  You won’t regret it. Plus get $5.00 off by clicking here.
